Football Recap: Atwater Gets the Win

Atwater's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pitman Pride, sneaking past 29-26. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pride, too.

It was another big night for Ali Banks Jr, who threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Durrell Morrison, who rushed for 106 yards on only 15 carries.

Pitman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mason Helwick, who rushed for 70 yards and a pair of TDs. Helwick is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Atwater now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pitman, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Atwater and Buhach Colony will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Thunder will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Pitman, they will face off against Modesto at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The contest will give the Pride their first taste of in-conference action this season.
