On Saturday, the stars were shining brightly for Mater Dei in a 45-30 win over Sacred Heart-Griffin. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mater Dei.
Alyssa Koerkenmeier continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Mater Dei's points. Avery Trame was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mater Dei's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will square off against Father McGivney Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Father McGivney Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Mater Dei is ranked 45th). As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, they will head out on the road to face off against Pleasant Plains at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
