The Providence Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Providence in their matchups with Independence: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Providence still got an impressive performance from Delanie Hill, who scored 27 points. That was a full 50.9% of Providence's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Marlee Whitten was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Carson, who scored 20 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Kitchen, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Providence's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Independence, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Providence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-29 win vs. Rocky River on the 9th. Independence has also already played their next game, a 82-36 victory against East Mecklenburg on the 9th.
