The Mission Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 85-46 loss at the hands of Washington. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mission in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.
Washington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Korey Abantao, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Abantao is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Quadir Jules was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Mission dropped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission will face off against the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lowell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bears in California (the Cardinals are ranked 409th, while the Bears are ranked 1092nd). As for Washington, they will head out on the road to take on the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
