After a string of three wins, the St. Thomas Episcopal Saints's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to St. John's 78-72. St. Thomas Episcopal was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. John's apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why St. Thomas Episcopal lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiden Law. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Law is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathan Law, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Sebastian Williams-adams, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 14 rebounds for St. John's. Those 37 points set a new season-high mark for him. Sam Humphries was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
St. Thomas Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for St. John's, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
St. Thomas Episcopal will be playing at home against Houston HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Houston HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 494th, while St. Thomas Episcopal is ranked 133rd). St. John's and Second Baptist will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Second Baptist knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matches -- so hopefully St. John's likes a good challenge.
