If the Destin Sharks were feeling good off their 66-21 takedown of the Freeport Bulldogs last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Destin took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Paxton on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Destin has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Destin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryson Nixon. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Flynt, who scored six points along with two steals.
Paxton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Morgan out in front who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Adams, who scored 11 points.
Destin's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Paxton, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Destin on the road again on Thursday and play against Jay at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Jay is ranked 379th, while Destin is ranked 373rd). As for Paxton, they will head out on the road to face off against Geneva County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva County will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
