After a string of three wins, the Pueblo Central Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Pueblo West by a score of 62-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (58), Pueblo Central still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Pueblo Central still got an impressive performance from Xavier Davis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Davis is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Darrin Hemphill, who scored 16 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pueblo West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Montgomery, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Montgomery has scored all season. Andrew Trujillo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Pueblo Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Pueblo West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.
Pueblo Central will be playing at home against Pueblo County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pueblo Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. As for Pueblo West, they will be playing at home against Pueblo East at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pueblo East is coming into the game with four straight losses on the road, meaning Pueblo West will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
