The Westland Hialeah Wildcats waltzed into their game on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 66-57 win over Hialeah. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Frank Sosa was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with seven assists and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Westland Hialeah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Trimmings, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Westland Hialeah's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Hialeah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
Westland Hialeah won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Hialeah, they will take on the Wolverines at TBD on Tuesday. Belen Jesuit presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Thoroughbreds in Florida (the Wolverines are ranked 163rd, while the Thoroughbreds are ranked 332nd).
