The St. Luke's Storm will take on the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kingswood Oxford will be up against a hot St. Luke's team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 12. The Storm put the hurt on Holy Child with a sharp 10-2 victory on Thursday.
Caroline D'Onofrio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ellie Fatsi, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Lucy Millones was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.
St. Luke's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Child only posted a batting average of .154.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kingswood Oxford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over Suffield Academy on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wyverns considering their two-run performance the game before.
Alexis Nisyrios ?27 made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Nisyrios ?27 was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Lillian Evans ?29 was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Reminisce Rosado ?28, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.
St. Luke's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kingswood Oxford, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Luke's has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kingswood Oxford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Luke's suffered a grim 17-5 defeat to Kingswood Oxford when the teams last played back in March. Will the Storm have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
