Make it five blowout wins for the Stratton Eagles this season. They claimed a resounding 58-25 victory over Cheyenne Wells at home. Given Stratton's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Cheyenne Wells is ranked 169th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Sedonia Isenbart, who scored 11 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Sophia Isenbart was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Cheyenne Wells saw an underclassman step up: Aliyah Muth scored nine points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Muth pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Stratton's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-1. As for Cheyenne Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stratton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fleming at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Fleming: 29.3, Stratton: 29.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Cheyenne Wells, they will be playing at home against Swink at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
