The Manchester Squires will face off against the Caston Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Manchester took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Peru, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Squires narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tigers 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Squires have posted since May 15, 2025.
Hadley West was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. Ava Sautter was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caston). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Bremen on Monday. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Kylee Logan, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Myli Rude, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Caston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .622. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Caston has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Manchester, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Manchester skirted past Caston 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Squires have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
