The Highland Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Kootenai Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Highland proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 29) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Timberline 47-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for Highland.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ty Goeckner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Noah Watson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Kootenai's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Coeur du Christ Academy 60-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kootenai has scored all season.
Highland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Kootenai, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
Highland beat Kootenai 64-53 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
