Cheyenne Wells has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Eads Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cheyenne Wells focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
A well-balanced attack led Cheyenne Wells over Granada in every quarter on their way to victory. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cheyenne Wells blew Granada out of the water with a 49-15 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-11.
Shaylee Scheler was a one-man wrecking crew for Cheyenne Wells as she almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Scheler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Ryser, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Eads gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] 56-23 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Eads.
Tailee Weeks-Johnson and Bailey Sierra were among the main playmakers for Eads as the former scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sierra has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lexi Shotton, who scored 13 points along with six steals.
Cheyenne Wells now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Eads, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cheyenne Wells have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Eads struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Cheyenne Wells came up short against Eads in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 50-43. Can Cheyenne Wells avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
