If the St. Paul Lutheran Giants were feeling good off their 53-21 takedown of the Kingston Cougars on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Paul Lutheran fell 50-37 to Viburnum on Saturday. St. Paul Lutheran was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Viburnum apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
St. Paul Lutheran's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Sherrill, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Pippa Detring who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Detring scored a full 27% of St. Paul Lutheran's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Paul Lutheran now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Viburnum, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
St. Paul Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lesterville at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Viburnum is on the road again on December 12th and play against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on December 12th.
