The Liberty Christian Academy Heat won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were outmatched by New Bern Christian Academy on the road and fell 62-35. Liberty Christian Academy was down 51-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the defeat, Liberty Christian Academy had strong showings from Luke Cavanaugh, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Caleb Morton, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Holden Smith was another key contributor, scoring five points.
It was another big night for KC Peter, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for New Bern Christian Academy. That makes it six consecutive games in which Peter has scored at least a third of New Bern Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benji Williams, who scored 12 points along with three blocks.
Liberty Christian Academy's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for New Bern Christian Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Liberty Christian Academy will be playing at home against the Conquerors at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kaleb West and Mark Bachmann. As for New Bern Christian Academy, they and the Cyclones will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Community Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
