The Santaluces Chiefs were the 60-31 winner over the Grandview Prep Pride when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Santaluces took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grandview Prep.
Santaluces' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makaylah Wayde, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Wayde is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Aisha Elyacinthe was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Santaluces has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Grandview Prep, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santaluces will take on Boynton Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Boynton Beach is coming into the match hot, having won their last 13 games. As for Grandview Prep, they will play host again and welcome Donna Klein Jewish Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
