The Lakewood Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lakewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Lakewood struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (Arvada West had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lakewood received a tough blow as they fell 62-47 to Arvada West. While losing is never fun, Lakewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Arvada West is ranked 50th).
Despite the defeat, Lakewood had strong showings from Sam Silburn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Quentin Wilson, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Bazan-Torres, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 46-42 win over Legend. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Ralston Valley has scored all season.
Jackson Hansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Mason Trebilcock was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lakewood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Ralston Valley, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
Lakewood was dealt a bruising 95-39 loss at the hands of Ralston Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Lakewood, James Wochner (who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
