Pasquotank County is 0-10 against Currituck County since February of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Pasquotank County Panthers will welcome the Currituck County Knights at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pasquotank County will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Holmes, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Pasquotank County took down Holmes 65-51 on Tuesday.
Pasquotank County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Branden Smith out in front who went 9 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Seymore, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Currituck County was able to grind out a solid victory over Manteo on Tuesday, taking the game 55-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Pasquotank County better focus on containing Jamie Dance and Tristan Peterson as the pair were huge in Currituck County's win. Dance dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards, while Peterson went 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Dance a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Pickering, who put up four points and six rebounds.
Currituck County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.
Currituck County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Pasquotank County, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Pasquotank County and Currituck County are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Pasquotank County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.8 points per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Pasquotank County came up short against Currituck County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 75-68. Can Pasquotank County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
