The Antietam Mountaineers waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Tulpehocken with a sharp 52-30 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Antietam has managed all season.
Antietam found their leader in underclassman AJ Schiefly, who scored 21 points along with five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Schiefly has scored at least 25% of Antietam's points. Jonas Coste was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Aidan Schwalm and Lucas Werner certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Schwalm scored 11 points along with seven rebounds, while Werner scored eight points. Werner scored a full 26.7% of Tulpehocken's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win got Antietam back to even at 3-3. As for Tulpehocken, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Antietam will be home for the holidays to greet Oley Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tulpehocken, they will head out on the road to face off against Kutztown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kutztown is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
