After both having extra time off, the Covenant Day Lions and the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Covenant Day is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Legion Collegiate Academy, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (Covenant Day was ranked eighth). The Lions put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Covenant Day never let Legion Collegiate Academy on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 26-24, 25-18.

Covenant Day found their leader in sophomore Ben Keefer, who had 38 assists and nine digs. Those 38 assists set a new season-high mark for Keefer.
Meanwhile, Metrolina Christian Academy had already won eight in a row dating back to last season and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Sabres.
Metrolina Christian Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept South Mecklenburg between 13 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-13, 25-14.
Covenant Day's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Covenant Day has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Metrolina Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Covenant Day couldn't quite get it done against Metrolina Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
