Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Happy Arune, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Haux, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points.
Even though they lost, Gaston Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Concord Academy was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past North Pitt 51-11. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 29 points or more this season.
Concord Academy found their leader in freshman Justice Alexander, who posted 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The match was Alexander's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Bekich, who put up six points in addition to 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Gaston Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Concord Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gaston Christian has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Concord Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
