Clopton is 9-1 against Bowling Green since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Clopton Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Bowling Green Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Clopton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
Clopton stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard. They beat Wright City by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 82-26. Given Clopton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Wright City is ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clopton found their leader in underclassman Charleigh Spoonster, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. Spoonster is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Lindsay, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Bowling Green's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight loss. They lost to Elsberry on the road by a decisive 51-37 margin.
Clopton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Bowling Green, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Clopton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to Bowling Green in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Clopton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
