Cesar E. Chavez is a perfect 4-0 against Houston Math Science & Tech since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Lobos will host the Tigers at 10:00 a.m. Cesar E. Chavez's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Houston Math Science & Tech's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Cesar E. Chavez proved they can win big on Friday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bellaire, sneaking past 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Lobos in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.
Ava Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Ahmani Hawkins was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Houston Math Science & Tech came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Wisdom 18-3 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Giuliana Montemayor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Montemayor was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Houston Math Science & Tech got a massive performance out of Kathleen Gutierrez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Gutierrez launched this season. Jada Garcia was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Cesar E. Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
