The Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes will take on the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Fox Valley Lutheran sitting on three straight wins and Lake Country Lutheran on five.
On Wednesday, Fox Valley Lutheran earned a 5-2 victory over Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
Jacob Bickel looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Fox Valley Lutheran let Jack Schlueter and Cooper Kobin run wild. Schlueter went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Kobin went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases. That hit was Kobin's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Lake Country Lutheran got themselves on the board against Catholic Central on Thursday, but Catholic Central never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hilltoppers with a sharp 12-0 win. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.
David Nehls was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nehls was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Will Tetting was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Poellot, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Lake Country Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Lake Country Lutheran's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Fox Valley Lutheran suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Lake Country Lutheran in their previous matchup back in June of 2021. Can the Foxes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
