Baseball Game Preview: Enterprise Yellowjackets vs. Columbia Wildcats

The Enterprise Yellowjackets will challenge the Columbia Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Enterprise is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Columbia will be up against a hot Enterprise squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Enterprise's pitcher stepped up to hand Salem a 12-0 shutout on Friday.

Ryder Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Enterprise is 4-1 when Martin posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Raiford, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jiles Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Columbia duked it out with Sumrall on Friday. Columbia fell just short of Sumrall by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 6, 2024.

JP Haddox was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Dillon Rowley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

The victory got Enterprise back to even at 9-9. As for Columbia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.
