Martin County has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Gates County Red Barons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Martin County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Martin County pushed their score all the way to 75 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 79-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tarboro. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (56), Martin County still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tayvon Lee, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquavion Sheppard, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Gates County had to suffer through a rough 67-25 loss at the hands of the Falcons. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gates County has scored all season.
Martin County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Gates County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Everything went Martin County's way against the Red Barons in their previous matchup back in January as the Knights made off with a 73-47 victory. With Martin County ahead 44-22 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
