It was fun while it lasted, but American's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Friday. They took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hialeah Thoroughbreds. The loss was the Patriots' first of the season.

American lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lajahnique Olive, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Allison Pena, who put up eight points in addition to eight boards and six blocks.

Hialeah's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zariah Louissaint, who had 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Hayes, who posted 11 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, American fell to 4-1. As for Hialeah, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

American will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Hialeah, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-15 victory against Dr. Krop on the 17th.
