The Kearns Cougars entered their tilt with the Hunter Wolverines with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Kearns walked away with a 64-57 win over the Wolverines on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kearns to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylee Glade, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glade has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Afemata - marasco, who scored 18 points.
Despite the defeat, Hunter saw an underclassman step up: Grace Gallagher dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 rebounds. Gallagher hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for 12 straight games. Kalysa Ng was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Even though they lost, Hunter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Kearns pushed their record up to 11-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Hunter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kearns will take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Taylorsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Hunter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. West Jordan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 535 points over their last eight contests.
