 In other batting news,  Doug Pippin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Cottondale's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Lafayette, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cottondale will  take on Franklin County at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Lafayette, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Taylor County at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Taylor County is coming into the  contest with three straight  defeats at home,  meaning Lafayette will have to defend against a  team hungry for a  win.
