The Manchester Squires came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Rochester by a score of 55-47. This was payback for Manchester, who suffered a 45-25 loss the last time these two teams met.
Manchester was led to victory by Brookelynn Buzzard and Emma Walker. Buzzard scored 23 points along with five rebounds, while Walker dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Molly Schannep was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Several Zebras players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ella McCarter, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. McCarter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Wilson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Manchester is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Rochester, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.
Manchester will square off against Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bluffton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday. As for Rochester, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lewis Cass at 7:00 p.m. Lewis Cass is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
