Williston is a perfect 5-0 against Crescent City since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Williston Red Devils will take on the Crescent City Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Williston needed a bit of extra time to put away Palatka. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Devils have posted since March 29, 2024.
Jacob Loock was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Loock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Gardea, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Crescent City came into Thursday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Warner Christian Academy with a sharp 19-8 win on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Raiders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Marcus Pates was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Trivauhn Bush was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Crescent City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Crescent City's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Williston, their record now sits at 7-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crescent City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Williston took their win against Crescent City in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 21-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williston since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
