Amistad and Capital Prep are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Amistad Wolves will face off against the Capital Prep Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Amistad is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Amistad strolled past Hartford Public with points to spare, taking the game 51-35.

Amistad's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eddie Edwards led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Edwards is becoming a predictor of Amistad's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 4-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Chaparro, who posted 14 points.
Meanwhile, Capital Prep hadn't done well against Prince RVT recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Capital Prep walked away with a 64-55 victory over Prince RVT. The Trailblazers didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Amistad better keep an eye on Syre Gillespie. He was instrumental in Capital Prep's win, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Gillespie's tenth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Javaris Spencer, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards.
Capital Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.
Amistad's record now sits at 8-10. As for Capital Prep, their record is now 5-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Amistad has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Capital Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Amistad was able to grind out a solid victory over Capital Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 97-85. The rematch might be a little tougher for Amistad since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
