The Douglass Bulldogs had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 13-8 W over Bluestem on Friday. The win was just what Douglass needed coming off of a 48-7 loss in their prior match.
Douglass' victory bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Bluestem, their loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglass will take on Lyons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Lyons is ranked 191st, while Douglass is ranked 213th). As for Bluestem, they will head out on the road to face off against Republic County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Republic County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
