After flying high against the Mt. Zion Bulldogs last Tuesday, the McDonough Warhawks came back down to earth. McDonough took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stockbridge. McDonough has struggled against Stockbridge recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
McDonough lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aniya Dedrick, who scored eight points along with two steals. Dedrick is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Courtney Byrd was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
McDonough has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Stockbridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McDonough will take on Pace Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stockbridge will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Woodland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Monday.
