Section 3 Class AA 2 recap October 1, 2013
Baker's Ricky Sparks recorded the longest rushing play in Section 3 Class AA 2 this season in his game against Rome Free Academy last week. Sparks' team defeated the Black Knights as he sprinted for 67 yards on the play and finished with 352 in all.
Fayetteville-Manlius extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Liverpool, 49-37. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Hornets.
Sparks was a passing and rushing force as Baker beat Rome Free Academy.
Sparks was a beast in the backfield as Carl Sanfilippo's team topped Ted Swavely's team.
Angus Evans threw for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 15-30 with 1 interception.
Josh Reed was the best receiver in the league this week as the Black Knights fell to the Bees. Reed racked up 4 receptions for 72 yards. Joey Campbell helped Rome Free Academy's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 33 yards.
Rome Free Academy's Evans and Reed led Section 3 Class AA 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Evans has thrown for 782 yards this season, while Reed, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 16 catches for 284 yards. Baker's Sparks leads the league in rushing yards with 810.
The Black Knights are in fourth place, while Fayetteville-Manlius is in first place.
The Bees were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. Baker beat Rome Free Academy 44-25 earlier in the week.
