Foothill is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners at 3:30 p.m. Southeast Career Tech took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Foothill, who comes in off a win.
Foothill is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Spring Valley 14-2 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Leah Henderson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Hailey Gilbertson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kendall Miller was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are undefeated (2-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Southeast Career Tech suffered their closest loss since March 7, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Basic by a score of 8-6. The Roadrunners haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Bea Robinson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Robinson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1. As for Southeast Career Tech, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Foothill beat Southeast Career Tech 9-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does Foothill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southeast Career Tech turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
