The Holy Spirit Prep Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Providence Christian Academy, falling 68-25. While losing is never fun, Holy Spirit Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Providence Christian Academy is ranked 204th).
Providence Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clara Allen led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Allen also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Zoie Cameron was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Holy Spirit Prep's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Providence Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Spirit Prep will stay at home for another game and welcome Atlanta Girls' School at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Atlanta Girls' School will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Providence Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lanier Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. Lanier Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
