Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Troy walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Towanda Black Knights 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Troy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Gilliland, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Mason Smith was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Troy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Towanda struck out ten times.
Troy pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Towanda, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
