The Princeton Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Bunn Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Bulldogs fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They put the hurt on Southern Wayne with a sharp 20-2 victory last Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won nine in a row.
Chloe Herring made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Herring was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Princeton got a massive performance out of Caroline Waller, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mary Rachel Uzzell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Princeton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .879. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Wayne only posted an OBP of .357.
Meanwhile, Bunn put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 23-4 margin over Rocky Mount. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Emily Baez looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Payton Wood and Maycey Buchanan did most of the damage at the plate: Wood went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Buchanan went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Wood has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Bryson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
