After a string of three wins, the Hallandale Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hialeah Gardens. While losing is never fun, Hallandale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Hialeah Gardens is ranked 130th).
Khalil Volel was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds for Hialeah Gardens. The matchup was Volel's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Pupo, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Hallandale now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hialeah Gardens, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Hallandale will be playing at home against Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hialeah Gardens won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Reagan at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Reagan will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
