After a string of four wins, the North Valley Baptist Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 58-39 bruising from KIPP San Jose Collegiate. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Valley Baptist has scored all season.
North Valley Baptist lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hudson Fanara, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Fanara posted two or more blocks. Ethan Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals and two blocks.
KIPP San Jose Collegiate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Mendoza led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Ademe-Johnson, who scored 16 points.
North Valley Baptist's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
North Valley Baptist will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mountain View Academy at 6:00 p.m. North Valley Baptist will be up against Mountain View Academy's rather soft defense (which has allowed 64 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, they will head out on the road to take on El Primero at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully El Primero focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
