Wayne County recap October 29, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Rhen Weaver and Reid Stanley connected against Dalton. The longest such play in Wayne County this season, the connection resulted in 75 yards.
Norwayne moved up to 274 from 300 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bobcats were able to move up by topping Hillsdale 42-6.
Waynedale's dynamic duo of Weaver and Stanley proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Weaver threw for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns and Stanley had 75 yards receiving. Drew Lester helped Waynedale's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 77 yards.
Shayne Weaver made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Golden Bears beat Dalton. He recorded 1 fumble.
He went 9-22 with 0 interceptions.
Dalton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jack Burke has thrown for 1,444 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Adam Metzger has 37 catches for 575 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Northwestern takes on second place Norwayne.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Wayne County this week, Northwestern beat Rittman 57-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Huskies.
