The Carroll Chargers will face off against the Northridge Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Carroll barely beat Adams Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers put the hurt on the Flying Jets with a sharp 15-4 victory on Friday. The Chargers have beaten the Flying Jets the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Flying Jets has come to flipping the script.

Emilia Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alexis Pee was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Taylor Danley was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adams Central only posted an OBP of .321.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Northridge's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Plymouth by a score of 9-8. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pilgrims/Rockies 4-0 in the first period.
Rachel Humbarger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Willow Staley, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Carroll's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Northridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Carroll has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Northridge, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Carroll keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
Carroll took their win against Northridge when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
