This season hasn't been kind to The Chavez Lobos, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were beaten by Bellaire 55-8 on Thursday. Chavez was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.
Chris Cabrero threw for 117 yards on 11 of 26 attempts. Jontta Thomas was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards.
Bellaire found their leader in underclassman Will Hazen, who threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Diebner, who gained 109 total yards and three touchdowns.
Chavez's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.4 points per game. As for Bellaire, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-6.
Chavez will head out on the road to face off against Heights on November 3rd. Heights will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Bellaire, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Lamar's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six contests.
