The Yuba City Honkers will head out to square off against the Roseville Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yuba City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Yuba City had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Nevada Union on Tuesday. The Honkers never let the Miners get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The game marked the Honkers' most dominant victory of the season.
Maddison Stead was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Chloe Gonzales was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Naiema Cawthon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Yuba City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nevada Union only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Roseville was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Nevada Union. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on McKenna Patterson, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Makena Kelly was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Yuba City pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Roseville, their record is now 6-7.
Yuba City's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Honkers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Roseville, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Yuba City continue to outrun the ball?
Yuba City was able to grind out a solid win over Roseville when the teams last played back in March, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Honkers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
