The Whale Branch Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Hampton County 50-46. Whale Branch has not had much luck with Hampton County recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Whale Branch's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laron Wright, who scored seven points. Bradford Thompson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Hampton County was led to victory by Kavon Chisolm and Joshua Goodman. Chisolm scored ten points along with nine rebounds, while Goodman scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Chisolm is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Brooks, who scored six points.
Whale Branch now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Hampton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Whale Branch will head out on the road to challenge Branchville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Branchville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Friday. As for Hampton County, they will be playing at home against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Woodland is ranked 48th, while Hampton County is ranked 72nd).
