There wasn't a lot of overall movement in the power rankings this week, but with 17 teams changing position, that doesn't mean the week lacked for thrills. Among the action were the efforts of Hobbs's senior Micheal Greenough, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Volcano Vista got a 48 - 22 win over West Mesa last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jake Deatherage. Deatherage ran for 160 yards and also punched in one touchdown. That performance made Deatherage one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Movin on Up
Hope Christian not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent New Mexico Military Institute in every quarter. Hope Christian didn't allow a single point to New Mexico Military Institute and won 31 - 0. Hope Christian did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. The success catapulted it three spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
