4A Pikes Peak recap October 29, 2013
Pine Creek added to the longest winning streak in 4A Pikes Peak this week by beating Air Academy, 42-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Eagles.
Pine Creek took down the Kadets 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tommy Lazzaro threw for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 52 yards in the win.
Cameron Hacker threw for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 23-42 with 2 interceptions.
Micheal DeCarmo provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sand Creek fell to Vista Ridge. He completed 10 passes for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 119 yards. DeCarmo's key target this week was Jordan Preston, who caught 9 passes for 206 yards.
Zach McKinley was a key player and the best on defense this week as Rampart lost to Ponderosa. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed 1 sacks.
Hacker put up the best numbers in passing as the Rams lost to the Mustangs. Hacker's favorite target this week was Clayton Hacker, who caught 10 passes for 115 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Preston. The Sand Creek star has 37 catches for 711 yards.
Next week's game between the Wolves and Falcon will feature an aerial matchup as Elway Tubbs tests his arm against Isaiah Fields's defensive ability. Vista Ridge's Tubbs has thrown for 2,077 yards and 18 touchdowns this year, while Fields has racked up 7 interceptions for the Falcons.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Les Johnson's team and Falcon face off next week.
As it stands, the Wolves are in third, while Terry Poirer and Brian Green's team is in first.
The Falcons led the league in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on Liberty. Kalen Ballage ran for 110 yards and caught 3 passes for 87 yards during the win.
