While the Ouachita Parish Lions couldn't quite beat the Alexandria Trojans on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 30-point loss they were dealt last Tuesday. Ouachita Parish fell just short of Alexandria by a score of 53-51. While losing is never fun, Ouachita Parish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Alexandria is ranked 29th).
Alexandria was led to victory by Chavez Whitehead and Jaylin Johnson. Whitehead scored 17 points, while Johnson scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitehead has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ashton Bobb, who scored nine points.
Ouachita Parish has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-17 record this season. As for Alexandria, their win bumped their record up to 19-10.
Ouachita Parish does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alexandria, they will be playing at home against Pineville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pineville is coming into the matchup with eight straight victories on the road, so Alexandria is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
