The Harrison Raiders won the last time they faced the Merrillville Pirates, and things went their way on Saturday too. Harrison snuck past Merrillville with a 56-52 win.
Malachi King continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Ray Gibson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Despite the loss, Merrillville still got an impressive performance from Kelvion Brown, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Peters, who scored nine points.
Harrison's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Merrillville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Harrison will head out on the road to challenge Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Richmond has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Merrillville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
